IBM has introduced new software for the health care industry to help health care providers improve patient care and potentially reduce costs. The new software offering uses content analytics optimized to run on Power Systems. Seton Healthcare Family is the first client to adopt and use the technology, called IBM Content and Predictive Analytics for Healthcare. Seton intends to focus the new content and predictive analytics solution on the root causes of hospital readmissions and ways it can decrease preventable multiple hospital visits.

IBM reported another stellar quarter for its Power Systems line: In the third quarter of 2011, Power Systems accounted for 15 percent revenue growth over the same quarter last year, plus continued to hound HP and Oracle/Sun with 250 new competitive takeouts.

IBM today released the findings of a customer survey that demonstrates pent-up demand for solid-state disk technology as a successor to flash and hard-disk drives. IBM reports that customers are embracing high-performance solid-state disks to support growing data storage demands driven by cloud computing and analytics technologies.

Escorts Group, one of India’s leading engineering conglomerates, is adopting a workload-optimized solution based on IBM’s Power 750 Express and Power 740 Express to replace the company’s existing ERP system infrastructure. IBM reports that the advanced systems will provide enhanced performance and compliment the company’s business growth goals of lowering overall IT operating costs.

SkyView Partners, a long-time security vendor in the IBM i space, is branching into the AIX world. Skyview President Carol Woodbury explained the details in a press release: "AIX is a new platform for SkyView and we are excited to show the AIX community a new way of addressing security compliance and administration."
