One is about Watson tech for use in other industries than game shows, and the other is about Ersi migrating to IBM Power Systems for PowerVM for SAP applications. While we haven't extensively covered cloud computing yet at Power IT Pro, there are a handful of well-respected players offering AIX-focused professionals the ability to serve up Power Systems-based servers from the so-called clouds. Connectria is one, and I know the company serves up a variety of AIX-focused configurations for several dozen customers, large and small. The latest company to invest in IBM Power Systems cloud offerings is Logicalis, which is offering its new Enterprise Power Cloud service -- based on IBM Power 770-class systems capable of supporting multi-tenancy running AIX and i5/OS virtual servers.

One of IBM's most enviable tech resources has to be its industry-leading Redbook publication series. The latest addition to the massive library is IBM PowerHA SystemMirror 7.1 for AIX. Better yet, IBM offers Redbooks up as free .pdfs, though you can order some of them in hard-copy format.

Vision Solutions, Inc., a provider of information availability software and services with over 25,000 customers running Windows, Linux, IBM Power Systems and Cloud Computing environments, today launched Double-Take Availability and Double-Take RecoverNow for AIX version 3.6. The enhancements reflect the AIX product line and rebrands with the Double-Take name.

I recently caught up with Chris Gibson, an AIX and PowerVM specialist who makes his home in Australia, for an email Q&A on AIX 7. You might recognize Gibson from his "Chris's AIX Blog" on IBM's developerWorks site, his activity out and about in our Power Systems world, his Twitteringn Twitter (@cgibbo), or even as an author on the AIX 7.1 Differences Guide Redbook, which is currently available as a draft and is due for official release in December.

Netsmart Technologies, Inc., a provider of enterprise-wide software and services for health and human services organizations, and Vision Solutions, Inc., have announced a strategic alliance to provide data protection and disaster recovery software to Netsmart customers.
The initial service offering will make Vision's data protection and recovery software for AIX available to Netsmart's CMHC/MIS software customers using AIX.
