IBM has posted a pair of new Power Systems-focused videos that I missed over the holidays but have to share now: They’re that good.
The first is a slick video that does a far better job of explaining IBM’s Watson technologies on Power Systems than I’ve ever seen before. It has fantastic graphic representations, plus it’s engaging. The video doesn’t get into operating systems, but it does make some good leaps between the base technology and the industries in which it can be used before promoting IBM Power Systems.
“Now with Watson and Power Systems, IBM has created a first of its kind workload optimized system specifically designed for answers. Answers delivered immediately, in real time. How does it work?”

Esri Migrates to POWER7 and PowerVM for SAP Applications
In this video, IBM and Esri, a leader in GIS software, talk about how the company migrated their SAP applications to Power Systems with PowerVM server virtualization software. The migration consolidated dozens of servers to a number you can count on one hand -- including the backup and recovery system. Plus, there are a lot of great comments about the benefits of running on POWER7-based Power Systems, even with SAP. It’s a great video case study, and it’s engagingly packaged in less than four minutes.
